Samhain
Smahain is considered the "new Year"
in Celtic Pagainism. The feast begins the night
befor under the full moon. It is believed that
the vail seperating this world and the next is thinned.
This allows our ancestors to return to this land.
Many families would cook extra food and set a place
at the table for family that have passed on.
Souls that are reincarnating can pass on easily at this time.
Divintion is hightened and bonfires are built.
Omens and predictions for the year are done at this time.
Traditional decorations for this holiday include:
Fall leaves
Pumkins or other gourds
Apples
Rituals at this time should be interspective ones,
looking back on the year past and forward on to the next.
Also ones that deal with divination
as the veil is thinner. Traditions include,
putting a candle in the window to guide souls of family home.
Putting out offerings of food, and setting place at table.
The carving pumpkins and turnips.
